The 2017 Discovery SE (base) now comes with the 3.0 TD option - Thats good
The Base model with the diesel starts at $54,000 - Thats bad.
You can still get it with low range and a locking rear diff as options- Thats good!
But only on the high end HSE Luxury model (base price $67,500)- Thats bad.
But you can still get low range on the base model - Thats good
Air suspension is manditory with the low range box - Thats bad
It still looks like !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! couldn’t care less about roving the land or discovery...Thats bad.

I wonder how much extended warranties cost on these things? Asking for a friend.....

somewhere between worth it and TOTALLY worth it.

Like Sky said...and those are the SMALLEST wheels. Man alive, you can get a Ko2 for a freaking rav4 but not for a discovery? What world are we living in...

Is it just me or does it feel like Land Rover is missing the freaking boat not offering a trail ready coil sprung model thats $10,000 more than a 4runner for Anti-Toyota pro Rover types?

$68k for a Discovery HSE? I’d rather spend another $10k and get all the same stuff on a RR Sport HSE.

On the 4Runner, Toyota doesn’t let you combine full-time 4wd (which is exclusive to the Limited) with the rear locker (which is exclusive to the TRD trims). So there’s that...

Yup. I think they are missing the mark on the disco entirely. I think if they brought it DOWN market a little it wouldn’t hurt. Its not like they don’t have enough high end offerings already.
You know, I don’t think I want a discovery not flash enough
How about a range rover?
Nah, too flash.
Discovery sport?
No, too small
Velar?
No too...um...yeah actually that.

McGovern is the type of person who’ll talk for hours but not actually say anything.
In short, he is a doos.

Thats true, though you could get that combo on the FJ cruiser for some odd reason, just not with an auto.

Speaking of Land Rovers and off roading, they’re never replacing the Defender are they? I mean it’s been in development for years and not even a poorly disguised mule to fawn over.
Then again the whole electrification thing is probably taking up whatever little overhead they had left for new vehicles.

does make you wonder.

Also in the ’09 4Runner Trail Edition, which was automatic transmission.
I’m just salty that Toyota cheaped out on the current gen 4Runner and limited full-time 4wd to the Limited when the Torsen center diff was standard on the 4th gen.

At least in North America, Toyota doesn’t offer a locker on their other full-time 4wd SUV (Land Cruiser). Toyota puts a ton of confidence in ATRAC which is not unwarranted, but sometimes you just need a locker. Makes for a sizable aftermarket in differential builders.

At 65k loaded to my liking, it’s a good deal. Time to add that to my list of test drive cars (along with land cruiser, Nissan Patrolmada, and XC90). When you have a baby, test driving cars take a long time.

They don’t want you roving too far from the dealer because of the tow cost. Not only that they don’t want you to break it because then they’d have to have a parts inventory...and that would cut into those sweet profits.
I will buy a modern Land Rover when the leading in-country representative is happy to lick my chocolate starfish and still walk away smiling.
